São Paulo based Galeria Luis Maluf invited Janet to take part in SP Arte Rotas Brasileiras from August 30 until September 3 2023. SP Arte is one of the worlds biggest top art fairs. SP Arte Rotas Brasileiras focuses on Brazilian artists only. As a Dutch born Brazilian citizen since 2006, Janet feels most embraced being part of this beautiful exhibition.

São Paulo based Galeria Luis Maluf invited Janet to take part in SP Arte 2023. SP Arte is South America’s largest Art Fair, annually taking place in Oscar Niemeyers Pavilhão do Bienal. It was a big pleasure to work with Luis and his enthusiastic team at this highly vibrant fair.

The School of Life Amsterdam organises a three day Winterschool at Museum de Lakenhal in which the theme Intuition will be the focus. The workshop is led by psycoligist Barbara van der Steen.

During the exhibition ‘Imagine Intuition’ Museum de Lakenhal organizes 3 late night sessions with the artists that were invited to make commissioned works for this exhibition. December 9, Janet Vollebregt is invited together with artist duo Dikker + Oostrom.

The MACS Museum, Museu de Arte Contemporánea de Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil has invited Teo of Kura Arte, to curate the exhibition Curva - Ponto. Teo was guided by the geometric definition of the curve and the point.

Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden, the Netherlands presents the exhibition ‘Imagine Intuition’ from October 14, 2022 until January 15, 2023. The exhibition has a strong relation with Leiden European City of Science. 6 artists are invited to express their vision on what Intuition is and how it can be accessed.

The group exposition ‘Brasilia Agora’ at Galeria Index in Brasilia shows recent work by selected artists, expressing the life in and poetry of the still futuristic city of Brasilia.

So proud of Galeria Index realizing this poetic booth at FBAC artfair in Brasilia in the middle of producing the opening of my exhibition at Museu Nacional da Republica next week. Happy to present a sneek-peek of next week, besides the beautiful work of Bruna Sperling, Marcelo Sola, Alberto Lamback, Azul, Kom Martins and Pedro Lacerda.

Solo exhibition ‘Esférica’/Nurturing Spheres won the open call by the Dutch Embassy in Brasil on the subject of ‘Habitable Spaces’. As the exhibition focuses on the question how to make our environment more nurturing for people and planet, it was the perfect match with the theme of this open call. The support of the embassy has been crucial in realizing both the exhibition and the opening.

For the fifth edition of the group exhibition ‘Circular na Praça’, initiated by Farah Service, on Praça Adolpho Bloch, a park in the hart of São Paulo, Brazil, curator Marc Pottier invited artists to re-interpret Neo Concretism.

Acompanied by Kura Arte in Sao Paulo, Janet Vollebregt created the installation ‘Tree Talismans’ for this exhibition.

The Installation Love Hurts consists of two wall totems in brass and rose quartz. The totems are symbols of love and protection. At the same time, they are spears with slices of rose quartz ‘meat’. The works invite us to question what we take from the earth. What nurtures us can imply a sacrifice elsewhere. Are we conscious of that? Should we consume or not? Are we giving something back to the earth?

The exhibition addresses transformation of material, space and its visitors. My work is shown together with the works of artists Judith Bloedjes, Rob Wouters, Emma van Noort en Albert Roskam.

Art-Science workshop: Beyond Science, Health and Art, the role of Empathy and Intuition in Healthcare and Museums organised by Museum de Lakenhal, Leiden, Netherlands and Lorenz Centre Leiden

The Dutch Museum of Ethnology, Museum Volkenkunde, dedicated an exposition to the subject ‘Helende Kracht’ or ‘Healing Force’. I have contributed with a lecture on ‘Nurturing Space’. My totems and pendant installation were exposed in a dedicated room in the museum.

During the opening of the Exposition ‘Nurturing Space’ at Marksteeg 10, Roger Busschots made this filmed interview. The interview is part of a series called “Leiden op de Kaart”. The series adresses art and culture in Leiden and was shown at Museum the Lakenhal in October 2019.
