In July 2025 Janet was invited to place a Spirit House installation in the winter garden at Rosewood São Paulo. This was an initiative of Rosewood’s curator Marc Pottier in collabolation with Luis Maluf Art Gallery.
Spirit Houses are a series of sculptures that serve as points of offering and exchange. These sculptures, made of made of brass, mounted on rose quartz, green quartz and agate stones are meant to be placed on land, in a garden or in wild nature to honour the land, its energy or spirits. Offerings can be placed on the crystal plates, and the process of offering is seen both as a ritual for individuals and as a performance that makes people connect with others through sharing their stories on why and what they are offering. These sculptures are inspired by Asian spirit houses, but they intend to help find a more abstract metaphysical language and underline the importance of the invisible but sensible in life.
